Abantu inTransit is our own live platform for discovering and booking chauffeur-driven vehicles. We built it to solve a real operating problem, then expanded the idea so other fleet operators could participate too.

Beginning

We knew the problem from the inside.

inTransit began with a chauffeur service in Johannesburg. Bookings, pricing, availability, and payment coordination were handled through conversations and manual follow-up. A simple booking system could make that operation easier to run.

Change

The platform could work for more than our own vehicles.

Payment marketplace capabilities changed the opportunity. Instead of building only for our own fleet, we could create a place where other fleet owners and agencies could list vehicles and receive bookings. The principle was simple: the success of other operators could help the marketplace succeed too.

Product

One platform for customers and fleet operators.

The platform brings vehicle discovery, booking, payment, fleet enrolment, compliance, listings, and booking management into one connected experience.

Customer journey: Choose a city and pickup → browse vehicles → select → book and pay.
Fleet journey: Register an agency → complete compliance → add vehicles → go live → manage bookings.

Trust

A marketplace depends on trust as much as convenience.

As the product expanded beyond one operator, the system had to support multiple agencies and vehicles, customer discovery, bookings, and payment flows. Fleet participation also depends on reliable business and vehicle information. Document analysis can assist the verification process, while human review remains part of decisions where safety and trust are involved.

Outcome

Less administration. More attention on the journey.

In our own operation, the platform has removed the vast majority of booking administration. That gives us more room to focus on vehicle readiness, driver readiness, customer experience, and fulfilment.

Ahead

The driver is part of the experience.

A vehicle may first attract a customer, but the driver helps them feel confident about the journey. We see an opportunity to keep improving how drivers are represented and supported in the product. Present any driver app, ratings, assignment, live location, or safety functionality as future direction unless it is verified as live.
